บทคัดย่อ

บทความนี้มีจุดประสงค์สำคัญในการอธิบายประวัติศาสตร์ฟุตบอลภายในเกาะชวาภายใต้การกำกับดูแลของรัฐบาลกองทัพญี่ปุ่นช่วงสงครามมหาเอเชียบูรพา (ค.ศ. 1942-1945) เพื่อต้องการแสดงให้เห็นถึงสภาพสังคมและวัฒนธรรมลูกหนังช่วงทศวรรษ 1940 ผ่านการใช้หลักฐานชั้นต้นจากหนังสือพิมพ์และนิตยสาร กองทัพญี่ปุ่นในชวาใช้ฟุตบอลเป็นกิจกรรมเพื่อเพิ่มความแข็งแรงของร่างกาย ความบันเทิง และความสามัคคีในหมู่ประชาชนที่มีความหลากหลาย หนังสือพิมพ์และนิตยสารช่วงสงครามมหาเอเชียบูรพาสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการเข้าร่วมของนักกีฬาและทีมฟุตบอลที่มีความหลากหลายเชื้อชาติในการแข่งขันฟุตบอลอีกทั้งยังแสดงให้เห็นถึงอิทธิพลของแผนการเล่น 2-3-5 อันเป็นแผนการเล่นที่ได้รับความนิยมอย่างมากในการแข่งขันฟุตบอลระดับนานาชาติในวัฒนธรรมฟุตบอลชวา นอกจากนี้ยังปรากฏประเด็นอื่นๆอย่าง ประเด็นแฟนฟุตบอลกับความจุของสนามกีฬา และประเด็นการจำหน่ายผลิตภัณฑ์กีฬา
