บทคัดย่อ
บทความชิ้นนี้ต้องการศึกษาสนธิสัญญาสันติภาพเอาก์สบวร์กปี 1555 ในฐานะจุดเปลี่ยนที่สำคัญของการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองจากยุคคริสเตียนมาสู่ยุคสมัยใหม่ อันเป็นช่วงเวลาที่แนวคิดรัฐสมัยใหม่เริ่มก่อตัวขึ้นและกลายเป็นฐานที่มั่นทางอำนาจให้กับรัฐต่างๆ ในยุโรปยุคนั้น บทความชิ้นนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นถึงความสำคัญของสนธิสัญญาสันติภาพเอาก์สบวร์ก ซึ่งมีความสำคัญไม่แพ้สนธิสัญญาเวสต์ฟาเลีย ผู้เขียนใช้แนวคิดของสำนัก English School ของ Ian Clark ที่ให้ความสำคัญกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงการให้เหตุผลของการสร้างความชอบธรรมของสังคมระหว่างประเทศในช่วงรอยต่อระหว่างยุคคริสเตียนกับยุคสมัยใหม่มาอธิบายในบทความชิ้นนี้เป็นหลัก ผลของการศึกษาแสดงให้เห็นถึงนัยยะสำคัญของสนธิสัญญาดังกล่าวต่อการเสื่อมลงของสังคมระหว่างประเทศยุคคริสเตียน
