บทความนี้ศึกษากลุ่มพันธมิตรแปซิฟิก (Pacific Allaince) ในฐานะเครื่องมือในการบูรณาการในมิติทางการเมือง โดยพยายามทำความเข้าใจการบูรณาการจากทั้งสองฟากฝั่ง ของมหาสมทุรแปซิฟิกในบริบทการเมืองระหว่างประเทศ บทความกล่าวถึงบริบทของการก่อตั้งกลุ่มพันธมิตรแปซิฟิกและอาเซียน รวมถึงเป้าหมายในระดับโลกของกลุ่มพันธมิตรดังกล่าว บทความสรุปด้วยการแจกแจงถึงความท้าทายทางยุทธศาสตร์ของกลุ่มพันธมิตรแปซิฟิก 6 ประการ ซึ่งอาจเป็นอุปสรรคต่อการรวมตัวของสมาชิกและการบูรณาการกลุ่มพันธมิตรแปซิฟิกสู่การเมืองระหว่าประเทศอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ
