บทคัดย่อ
การศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์โดยสังเขปเกี่ยวกับความรู้สึกนึกคิด (mentalitéés) และสังคมของไทยชิ้นนี้ วิเคราะห์จากมุมมองทั้งด้านมานุษยวิทยาและศาสนาศึกษา ทั้งนี้ โหราศาสตร์ โหราเลขศาสตร์ (numerology) และศาสตร์ประยุกต์อื่นๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการพยากรณ์และการป้องกันเป็นตัวกำหนดการตัดสินใจในชีวิตประจำวันของเหล่าทหาร ตำวจ อาชญากร นักธุรกิจและนักการเมืองในประเทศไทย ศาสตร์ประยุกต์เหล่านี้ช่วยแนะแนวทางเรื่องขอฤกษ์ยามและขั้นตอนการดำเนินการ โดยรายละเอียดจากการศึกษาชีวิตของ พลตำรวจตรี ขุนพันธรักษ์ราชเดช (พ.ศ. 2441-2549) จะแสดงให้เห็นถึงประเด็นหลักเหล่านี้
