Camouflage in A Boxing Ring: Civilizing Process, Scientific and Professional of Professional Boxing in Thai Society (1945-1955)

Abstract
This article aims to study the changes of professional boxing in Thai society in the context of politics, business, and communication technologies and to study the changing in attitudes and practices of professional boxing in terms of civilizing process, scientific, and professional from a global context to the Thai social context during the period 1945-1955. The study found that professional boxing was revived around the world at the time, causing people directly involved in professional boxing in Thai society to attempt to connect this sport in Thai society with the international network. But those indirectly related to this sport, especially military leaders who held political power, came to patronize professional boxing, as well as brought military practices and militarist ideology to dominate professional boxing in Thai society, causing Thai boxers and those involved to see the competition in this sport like a battle to protect the national dignity. This process made attitudes and practices in civilizing process, scientific and professional in professional boxing in Thai society to decrease as compared to the approach in the global context.
