Abstract
This research aimed to explore and analyze the cultural landscape and historical heritage and assess the impact on the identity and preservation efforts of cultural heritage communities in the study area. The study involved 14 communities in the Yom River Basin, Ban Teuk Sub -district, Sri Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province. It was conducted as a field research project utilizing two sample groups: 14 community leaders selected through purposive sampling and 70 community members with expertise or experience in local agriculture and a deep understanding of local ways of life, selected through quota sampling. Data analysis involved both physical geography data and information gathered through interviews, presented through lectures, maps, and illustrations.
The results indicated that the communities' cultural landscape and historical heritage can be categorized into four main aspects: traditional lifestyle and agriculture that rely on nature, traditions, and beliefs reflecting Buddhist faith, natural resources and significant sites within the community, and local products derived from community wisdom. The assessment of the impact of the cultural landscape and historical heritage on the community's identity and efforts to preserve its cultural heritage reveals a solid commitment to maintaining traditional lifestyles and local wisdom, preserving traditions and culture, promoting cultural tourism, adapting to change, strengthening community resilience, and facing challenges posed by social and technological changes. This study highlights the importance of preserving and developing the cultural identity of communities in the modern era.
