CREATIVE CERAMIC ART PROJECT : THAI PROVERBS

Abstract

The researcher has the idea of ​​enhancing the knowledge of pottery works from the original researches on clay body of Nakhon Chaisi District and coatings suitable for Nakhon Chaisi clay. Therefore, the researcher chose to present a pottery work that features Thainess by using the content interpretations from the Thai proverbs into the creation of pottery products, based on the meaning related to modern society in the research presentation. The researcher has studied the meaning of Thai proverbs and used content analysis to experimentally draft a 2D sketch and then created a 3D workpiece using Nakhon Chaisi clay body formula and the coating formula blending with Nakhon Chaisi clay. The outcomes of the study of each clay body formula with various different ingredients also show the physical qualifications in molding workpiece having fine glutinousness. The color of the clay after burning became dark brown initiating local feeling or indigenous sensation. When it was coated, the combination of the colors of the clay body and coating also blended well. With such qualifications of the ingredients, both the clay and coating, the researcher was able to create the workpiece of pottery from the Thai proverbs related to animals as per the initiative concept to convey the Thai life style in the workpiece.
