Abstract

This article aims to provide recommendations for dance instructors who are required to conduct academic work concerning creation of dance and choreography in order to gain higher academic position. Knowledge regarding description of traditional dance movements and choreography was derived and compiled from studies and related literatures in both Thai and English. In addition, the issues of mistakes found in reports of creative dance written by instructors were collected and discussed. It consists of three segments including: 1) remarks found in dance creation of dance Instructors; 2) process of dance creation  to obtain academic promotion; and 3) possible dance innovation. This article presents only the first segment comprising compilation of mistakes found in previous creative work written by instructors and fruitful suggestions so that other dance instructors can learn to be more careful when writing the description of traditional dance movements as well as designing dancing performance in terms of content and composition. Furthermore, methods of describing traditional dance movements and traditional dance glossary to be included in academic work are presented in this paper in order that dance instructors are able to write their academic work correctly to meet the required standard.
