Abstract

This creative arts research is musical research. It aims to create music for playing Kra Jab Pi and Sor Sam Sai and preserving and promoting the use of them. This study employed qualitative research methodology. In this research, three songs, namely, Sa Dhu Karn, Paka Phi Rom Song Chan, and Paya Nark Tao, were remodified into new styles using techniques of playing Kra Jab Pi and Sor Sam Sai. Originally, the main melodies of these songs were created by Associate Professor Dr. Narongchai Pidokrajt. The results show as follows:

To create the new styles of playing Kra Jab Pi, the researcher created the new melodies and designed new styles of playing methods. The characteristics of playing the main melodies are: strumming each note far apart from one to another; repeating the notes; playing all the notes in each bar line; playing two notes in strumming in in the end of each line, while keeping the main melodies of the songs.

For Sor Sam Sai, the main melodies of the songs are kept both the final note of each bar line and the sound groups of the song styles. The main characteristic of playing Sor Sam Sai, which is playing chord, is also maintained. The conduct of the main melody of each song is not complicated by using only playing the main final notes in each bar line and playing all notes in each bar line.
