BEAUTY FROM THE TRACES OF THE PAST

Abstract

Research and creative work on the topic “Beauty from the traces of the Past”, the murals and Thai lacquerware that have faded over time. The murals also have traces of a thin first layer of paint, a fading of the plaster layer from the first layer to the paint layer. Only some shapes, colors and images remain to be seen today. Although the completeness of the content and the story is almost nonexistent. But time has left traces to see this beauty. Create an impression and be the source of inspiration for the researcher's creativity. In my previous creations, I have employed the technique of painting tempera on white clay filler in the style of contemporary Thai painting. In this creative research, I am interested in experimenting with unique techniques and methods for purpose to research creative works from painting tempera on white clay filler. It is an ancient process of Thai lacquerware on a primer coat called “Rak Samuk” with the story that has left from traces of murals.

The beauty from traces of murals and Thai lacquerware that has faded, remain only a few traces. To develop the concept, It is the inspiration for presenting creative research in the form of the Thai lacquerware process of making this set of Rak Samuk primer coat. I found that the results of this research made me recognize the intention, attention and delicateness in every part of Thai art of original processes. It can be noticed from the study of Thai painting that makes me proud and appreciate the value of Thai art.

Researching this creative work from the origin of the concept and inspiration in researching techniques, methods and processes of Thai lacquerware on Rak Samuk layer. Leading to the creativity of work, I learned to analyze the process and rectify all the problems between the research. The beauty that our ancestors created and left for the next generation and we has to preserve these for the civilization of our nation.
