Abstract

This academic article titled “Street Art and Urban Development” aims to examine the role of street art in improving the landscape of urban communities. The study found that street art originated from graffiti, an art form not widely accepted as it satirizes society. Street art, on the other hand, presents artwork in a positive light for society and creates art in public spaces by studying the area. The focus is not solely on the artist's emotional expression, but the artwork should serve to enhance the place through symbolism and visual appeal, with the consent of the property owner. Some street art projects also generate additional income for the community or location. By using street art to beautify the urban landscape, there is an increase in tourism, which in turn boosts the economy. This also adds value to the artist's work, creating benefits for the community and increasing their awareness of and responsibility for environmental care. The article suggests that while graffiti art has been viewed negatively in the past, the development of street art has created a new vision for society, leading to beautiful and beneficial changes.
