DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING ACTIVITIES OF SNARE DRUM PRACTICE SKILLS BASED ON SIMPSON'S CONCEPT IN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC SKILLS 1 COURSE FOR THE FIRST-YEAR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS OF WESTERN MUSIC PROGRAM AT KALASIN COLLEGE OF DRAMATIC ARTS

Abstract

          This research aimed 1) to create learning activities of snare drum practice skills according to the concept of Simpson, International Music Skills 1 course for the first-year undergraduate students at Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts and find out the efficiency according to the 80/80 criteria, and 2) to study the satisfaction of the first-year undergraduate students at Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts regarding learning activities. This research was an experimental study. The research instruments were the course syllabus of International Music Skills 1 course and a satisfaction questionnaire. The target group was 4 first-year undergraduate students in Western Music program, majoring in Percussion in the first semester of the 2024 academic year. The data collected from documents, literature review, and a questionnaire were conducted using content analysis.

           The research results showed that the learning activities of snare drum practice skills, based on Simpson's concept in International Music Skills 1 course for the first-year undergraduate students at Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts, were created to achieve the efficiency at the criteria of 80/80. The learning was divided into 4 learning units based on the course description integrated with Simpson's concept which help develop students systematically and vividly. The learning activities had an efficiency of 84.68/81.25, higher than the standard criteria of 80/80.  Moreover, the mean score of students' satisfaction with the learning activities of snare drum practice skills according to Simpson's concept was 4.57 with a standard deviation of 0.43. This means that the students' overall satisfaction with the learning activities was at the highest level.
