APPLYING DANCING ART ACTIVITY THROUGH SMILE LEARNING FOR DEVELOPING EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT OF PRATOMSUKSA 1 STNDENTS

Abstract

The study aims to develop Emotional Quotient (EQ) by applying SMILE approach through the dancing art learning activity among Prathomsuksa 1 students in semester 2 year 2016. The participants involve 12 Prathomsuksa 1 students who are selected by taking the EQ testing questionnaires of the Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health. The study lasts 5 weeks (twice a week and 50 minutes per day). The lesson plan of SMILE approach dancing art learning activity and the EQ testing questionnaires of the Department of Mental Health are utilized as research instruments. The results reveal that the average scores before and after the participants taking part in the SMILE dancing art learning activity are 38.68 and 43.25 respectively and the standard deviation scores are at 1.69 and 5.19 respectively. In addition, the average score shows the higher statistically significant level at 0.5 after applying the SMILE dancing art learning activity. It presents that applying SMILE approach through the dancing art learning activity is appropriate for developing EQ.
