COMPETENCIES OF AIRLINE BUSINESS GRADUATE STUDENTS: INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE SUAN SUNANDHA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to study the level of personal competencies and functional competencies of graduated students in Airline Business Program, International College Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRUIC), (2) to study factors of personal competencies affecting functional competencies of SSRUIC graduated students, and (3) to formulize the development program for SSRUIC students. The quantitative data were collective and analyzed by questionnaires (by using the statistics of percentage, arithmetic means, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple Regression Analysis) to serve the first and second research objectives. The qualitative data were collective and analyzed by an in-depth interview and content analysis to serve the third research objective. Samples included the first and second batch of SSRUIC airline business programs, total of 86 persons together with 59 people of co-workers, supervisors and managers.


            The results were found that the personal competencies’ level of SSRUIC graduates were at the highest level in the aspect of good human relationship, followed by service-mind. Whereas, technological literacy and foreign language communication skills were at the low level. Functional competencies in the aspect of knowledge and expertise were at the high level, resulting in the high work performance. Personal competencies affecting functional competencies of SSRUIC graduated students were responsibilities, service-minded and analytical thinking skills, respectively. So, the college should set up a cluster for teaching and learning by incorporating with the curriculum management, lecturers, and other related business in order to transfer the knowledge and necessary competencies in airline business for student future endeavor.
