The Communication Strategies of the Government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha

Abstract

This research aimed to study the differences between the communication strategies of the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha and communication strategies of the democratic governments. This research used qualitative research method especially content analysis. The results of this study had shown that the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha took advantage of political communication as a tool for public relations and retaliation political issues, including creating propaganda for self-righteousness. He used the special laws to regulate media and reinforce the same issues in the pattern of Hypodermic needle Theory. For the contents of communication, the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha were usually claimed to solve old problems that had accumulated from the previous governments and created an image of terror to those who resisted. Moreover, the government had communicated several issues at a time to become a result of confusing messages to the recipients.
