The Effectiveness of the Operations of the Commissioner’s Office For Monitoring and Following up the Police Operations of the Police Stations as Prescribed by Law: A Case Study of the Metropolitan Police Division 4

Abstract

The study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the operations of the Commissioner’s Office for Monitoring and Following up the Police Operations of the Police Stations under the Metropolitan Police Division 4 as prescribed by law. The study was exploratory research using a questionnaire survey for data collection. The population consisted of 72 committee members of the Commissioner’s Office for Monitoring and Following up the Police Operations of the Police Stations under the Metropolitan Police Division 4. The committee members were invited from 8 police stations (9 members from each station). Data analysis was carried out by performing statistical hypothesis tests using t-test, F-test, and Scheffe’s Multiple Comparison Test at significance level 0.05. The research results showed that 1. Overall, the operations of the Commissioner’s Office for Monitoring and Following up the Operations of the police stations under the Metropolitan Police Division 4 as prescribed by law were rated ‘highly effective’ ( gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.84, SD = 0.67). 2. The effectiveness ratings of the 9 out of 11 aspects of the operations were found to vary according to the different educational backgrounds of the committee members.
