Abstract

The academic article aimed 1) to study the new normal in the higher education learning environment during the COVID-19 crisis, and 2) to study the next normal of the learning environment at the university level. Online learning using digital technologies: cloud platforms, learning management systems (LMS), mobile learning, social networking applications, and online educational resources has normally been implemented in the learning environment in the COVID era. These technologies tend to become an important integral component of education in the next normal era. The interesting new combinations of instructional delivery, integrating online and face-to-face learning environments, are flipped classroom, blended learning, hybrid learning, and HyFlex learning. Hence, the future of education will no longer be bound to the traditions of single teaching modes; instead, traditional offline learning will go hand in hand with online learning. Higher education institutions should use digital technology to incorporate online teaching into traditional teaching methods in order to increase anywhere anytime learning potential of students as the next normal in education.
