Study Results of Management of Recreational Activities to Promote Health for the Elderly in Thamakham Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Kanchanaburi District, Kanchanburi Province

Abstract

The purposes of this Participatory action research (PAR) were 1. To study the guidelines for the management of recreational activities to promote health for the elderly. 2. To study the results from management of recreational activities to promote health for the elderly in Thamakham Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Kanchanaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province The sample group used for the data collection instruments of this research were 40 volunteer participants who were aged 60 or over, we’re able to take care of themselves and were inhabitants of Moo 1, Moo 2, and Moo 5 in Thamakham Sub-district Municipality, Mueang Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi Province. The research instruments used for collecting data were 12 recreational activity programs for promoting health for the elderly, structured interviews of the participants, and guidelines for the management of recreational activities to promote health for the elderly.  Data analysis was obtained by calculating percentage, mean, and standard deviation values. The results of the research project were as follows: Most of the elderly usually participated in community activities. The elderly participants had good levels of understanding about the purpose of creating recreational activities to promote health for the elderly. The elderly participants had good levels of overall satisfaction with the management of recreational activities to promote health for the elderly. The elderly participants had good levels of overall satisfaction with the seniors in recreational activities to promote health for the elderly.  The recreational activities consisted of group dynamic activities, and arts & crafts activities (folding of towel animals).
