A Model for Enhancing Food Security and Safety at the Household and Community Level in Lopburi Province

Abstract
The objective of this research is to study the model of enhancing food security and safety (safe vegetables) at the household and community level in Lopburi province. Qualitative research was used. The samples were 12 Food Safety (Safe Vegetables) Projects that promote and support by the provincial level management unit with a key focus (ThaiHealth Promotion Foundation) of Lopburi province. Data were collected using group discussions from 63 key stakeholders, and study the community context, community survey, non-participant observation, and documentary study. Data were analyzed using content analysis by non-theoretical typological analysis. The main results were: model of enhancing food security and safety (safe vegetables) household and community level in Lopburi province is as follows: 1) The key factors that contribute to success is the presence of working mechanisms, information, agreements, network partners, adding knowledge and developing skills, participatory learning through actions to learning resource for expanding. 2) Important activities include the development of “Safe Vegetable Learning Center” towards “sustainable food security in the community”, creating “space” and “opportunity” to create participatory learning through actions, visit the tracking area, outcome evaluation and summary of the lesson. And 3) Important tools include dialogue, before action review, after action review, using the resulting ladder, action research evaluation, empowered evaluation, and public relations media.
