Abstract

This article is documentary research project compiled from reviewing more than 50 related academic works. The objectives are to 1) study important concepts in the physical development of eco-urban communities and 2) propose guidelines for developing eco-community tourism networks with GI (green infrastructure). This is a study to create a main conceptual framework for using GI as means, tools, and strategies to respond to the planning and development of sustainable tourist destinations along with sustainable human settlements. GI is a concept of planning and design for the sustainability of urban environments. It is a tool for creating, using, or restoring the various ecosystem services of community open spaces and is able to respond to contemporary life. Because it is both a biophysical and cultural process that helps improve the quality of life of humans, plants, and animals and conserves the city's resource base in a holistic way. GI also complies with relevant regulations and supports biodiversity. Therefore, it is very beneficial to the development of local communities, and is the latest innovation that shows “Integrated functions” that are highly holistic. GI can be used as an important strategy for developing ecotourism and creating sustainability for Thai urban and local communities.
