Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate the effects of COVID-19 on job competencies, motivation, and efficiency, and to study the impact of COVID-19 on work performance that affects work efficiency. This study adopted a quantitative approach with a sample of 400 check-in staff at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Data were collected by using questionnaires and rating scales with 5 levels. Statistics used in data analysis include mean, percentage, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that the overall job competencies affected by COVID-19 were at a high level. Considering each aspect, the most affected by COVID-19 was management, followed by coordination in providing services and providing assistance to passengers, respectively. Also, the overall work efficiency was at a high level. The multiple regression study found that the impact of COVID-19 on work performance in passenger facilitation, service quality improvement, and service coordination, as well as the motivation of the check-in staff, affects work efficiency.
