The Development of an Instructional Model Using Design Thinking and Growth Mindset to Enhance Innovative Thinking Skills and Innovative Minds for Lower Secondary Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this study were to 1) develop and find the efficiency of an instructional model using design thinking and growth mindset to enhance innovative thinking skills and innovative minds for lower secondary students; 2) study the results of using the instructional model; and 3) investigate students’ opinions towards learning management after instructional model implementation. The 33 samples, selected by simple random sampling, were Mattayomsuksa 2/10 students studying in the second semester of the academic year 2023 at Thoeng Wittayakom School, Thoeng district, Chiang Rai province. The research instruments were an instructional model applying design thinking and a growth mindset, an innovative thinking skill evaluation form, an innovative minds evaluation form, and a student opinion towards the instructional model survey form. The data were analyzed by calculating the mean, standard deviation, percentage, and t-test. The results were as follows: 1) The components of the instructional model were (1) principles; (2) objectives; and (3) teaching activities. LABSCI is divided into 6 stages: learning, ascertaining, brainstorming, setting up, casting back, and identifying; (4) evaluation; and (5) supporting factors. 2) The post-test mean scores of students’ innovative thinking skills and innovative minds were higher than the pre-test at the.05 statistical significance level, and 3) Students’ opinion towards the instructional model is overall at a high level.
