The Big Five Personality and Conflict Management Style of Students: A Case Study Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.

Abstract

This research was an explanatory research with cross-sectional survey methodology.  The objective was to study the relationship between personal factors such as gender, age, education level, marital status and training on conflict management with conflict management style. An analyzing student conflict consisted of management styles,  measure the personality of students according to the five dimensional personality theory, analyzing the relationship between five dimensional personality and conflict management and analyzing the ability to explain the variation between five dimensional personality and conflict management style. The samples were students studying during years 1-4 by the researcher selecting the samples by proportional sampling without replacement method. A random number table people of 396 samples were used by the research questionnaire and 386 copies were returned. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s product moment correlation co-efficient, chi-square, and multiple regression analysis.


The result was age was negatively related to conflict management but gender, educational level, marital status and training on contrast management showed no relationship with conflict management. Most students used a compromise style of conflict management and had a concientiousness personality. There was personality of student showed no positive relationship with accommodating conflict management and a compromise. And there is no negative relationship with collaborating and competition conflict management. Students with a neuroticism personality can explain 5.20 percent of variation in conflict management. In this research, there is a suggestion  executives management or related personnel should have clear information about the personality of the student to study the behavior of conflict management. Which results in students having a happier quality of life.
