Instructional coaching:Guidelines for the development of teachers' instruction

Abstract

The instructional coaching is primarily intended to improve student achievement through teachers' instruction. There are different models of instructional coachingwith differentbelief and practice. In this article, we present three models;the KCP: Kansas coaching project, the student-centered model and inquiry-based/cognitive instructional coaching.To use the instructionalcoachingin teachers’ instruction, weneed to understand the principles, concepts and proceduresand condition of each model. The factors that influence the success of instructional coaching are the roles and skills of the coach. They need to know a number of coaching skills and practice themselves regularly. The instructional coaching evaluation should be done in a whole system of assessment.
