The purpose of this research was to investigate the problems and solutions to improve in English
communication for local tourism business in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammaratprovince.
It was mixed method with quantitative and qualitative research. The instruments used for data collection
was a questionnaire, in-depth interview and focus group discussion. The target group was 75 participants
working in local tourism business in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province from 4 businesses
including restaurant, accommodation, tour and transportation business. Statistics used in data analysis were
percentage, means and standard deviation (S.D.).
The results indicated that the problem in English communication for local tourism as overall was high
( = 3.80). When each aspect was considered, it was found that workers in these businesses about local
tourism have problem in English communication in listening skill ( = 3.85) and speaking skill ( = 3.74) were at high level respectively. The solution to improve in English communication was topractice English skill from movies, songs, other programs on YouTube, study English online, English training from university and so on.
