SITUATION AND MODEL OF COOPERATION TO BUILD CHECK DAM OF BAN KHAMPANGSAO MOO 2 KHAMPANGSAO SUB-DISTRICT, MUENG DISTRICT, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract

This research objectives were as follows 1) To examine the opinions on constructing check dam in Ban Khampangsao Moo 2 Khampangsao Sub-district, Mueng District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, and 2) To examine cooperation model of constructing check dam in Ban Khampangsao. This research employed a mixed - methods approach that combined quantitative and qualitative data collection. The target population group consisted of 217 project participants. The research instrument for collecting quantitative data was a questionnaire, analyzed by a computer program for descriptive statistics regarding frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation and qualitative data were collected from the in-depth interview.  16 participants were selected by purposive sampling method consisting of the initiators for the construction of a check dam, government officials, project participants, community philosophers or natural leaders.  The results of the study revealed that 1) the constructing check dam of Ban Khampangsao according to geographical survey had set type and format, determined the material used, planned the location for construction, the steps of construction check dam as well as its the feature. Overall, all aspects of construction were at a high level. ( = 4.24, sd. = 0.71). 2) Cooperation model of constructing check dam in Ban Khampangsao consisted of (1) Community capital: adopting abundant natural resources and capable human capital (2) Power of volunteering:  finding community potential, joining forces and working together had made the construction of water soften dam successful. (3) Inspire: work in a participatory manner, such as brainstorming and working together. (4) Way of democratic: giving opinions and working as a team. (5) Decentralization: allocating works and responsibility according to their capability and skills. (6) Community relations: the support from each other without expecting anything in return.  (7) Knowledge of the community: forming a group in exchange of knowledge and having a joint management. (8) Learn from the lesson: applying the knowledge from the lesson for protecting the environment.  (9) Revitalization of  the community: Revitalizing the community in agriculture and storing water for use in various situations.
