COOPERATIVE LEARNING MANAGEMENT WITH STAD TECHNIQUE TO DEVELOP ENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS OF MATTHAYOMSUKSA 5 STUDENTS

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to 1) investigate the contexts of cooperative learning management with the STAD technique in improving English reading comprehension for Mathayomsuksa 5 students at Rangsee Vittaya School in Chiang Mai province, 2) develop a cooperative learning management plan with the STAD technique to improve reading comprehension skills, and 3) compare the learning outcomes of Mathayomsuksa 5 students at Rangsee Vittaya School before and after implementing the STAD technique. The sample was 24 students from Mathayomsuksa 5/4 at Rangsi Witthaya School enrolled in the first semester of the academic year 2023 using cluster random sampling. The instruments were reading comprehension lesson plans, a reading comprehension proficiency test, a questionnaire assessing the context of learning management in improving reading comprehension, and in-depth interviews exploring the context of learning management in fostering English reading comprehension. The statistical analyses were mean, standard deviation, t-tests, content analysis, and interview and questionnaire analysis.The findings revealed that: 1) the context of cooperative learning management with the STAD technique improving English reading comprehension for Mathayomsuksa 5 students at Rangsee Vittaya School in Chiang Mai province was appropriate. Based on interviews with educational management stakeholders, this was highly appropriate 2) the developed learning management plan incorporating cooperative teaching methods and STAD techniques for Mathayomsuksa 5 students at Rangsee Vittaya School in Chiang Mai province was highly appropriate. 3) A comparison of improving reading comprehension skills of the students indicated high at 0.05 significatnt difference after implementing a cooperative learning management with the STAD technique.
