The Dance Movement Set of Dramatic Arts Indranee Devi Muang Phra Bang

Abstract

      Dance movement set of Indranee Devi Muang Phra Bang dramatic arts is a part of Thai dramatic arts identity. It is the creation of historical studies in Sukhothai era, “Phra Bang” city. The dances are created accordingly with Thai traditional dance of Phra Bang historical places such as Pranon Temple in Nakhon Sawan Province. The author gathers information from academic sources consulted by music professionals, Thai dance and Thai costume professionals in order to recreate the art and music. Synthesized with data and imagination, Indranee Devi Muang Phra Bang is practiced and performed to harmonize with the newly composed rhythm. The dance movement set is finally recorded academically in text, visual graphics and copyrighted as dance movement set of Indranee Devi Muang Phra Bang.

The research concludes that Indranee Devi Muang Phra Bang dance movement set is a novel form of Thai dance recreated by examined data and author’s imagination. The dance movement set is designed within the same custom. There are 41 primary dance movements and 20 secondary dance movements (including coordinating movements). In addition, there is a special hand-pleat gesture called Hang Sasyahast (the walking Buddha posture in Sukhothai’s art) in Sukhothai era, which is an ancient concept alike Muang Phra Bang and some foot dance movements are even mixed with Chinese traditional dance. The reason behind Chinese influences is that Chinese community played a critical role in history, economy and social of Nakhon Sawan province. Therefore, the taste of The Dancing Invention, Indranee Devi Muang Phra Bang is mixed with dramatic arts during late Sukhothai era, early Ayutthaya and Chinese.
