The illicit trade in cigarettes and e-cigarettes in Thailand is a problem concerning with both health and economic impacts. The signing and implementation of the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products, will help alleviate the problem, through strict law enforcement and international cooperation in prevention of the illicit production and distribution of e-cigarettes. The Protocol is part of the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO-FCTC) with aims to suppress the global cigarette illicit trade. Although the Protocol began with the control of conventional cigarettes, but e-cigarettes and new tobacco products become increasingly popular. It is important to control all forms of illicit tobacco products trade, including e-cigarettes and e-liquids.
