Lessons learned from the Interprofessional Education (IPE) primary health care system at Praboromarajchanok Institute in Mae Hong Son Province

People’s health and illness situation at present is complex and multidimensional. Therefore, healthcare guidelines must be adjusted to keep up with the changes. The World Health Organization recommends that the teaching of health professions must be improved by integration. Inter-professional Education was created to give opportunities for the Praboromarajchanok Institute’s students to learn through the perspectives and experiences from other professions under the current situation and conditions, with cooperation and support to achieve the results of universal health coverage.
The Praboromarajchanok Institute provides interdisciplinary education in Mae Hong Son Province, with students in medicine, nursing, community health, dental health, emergency medicine, Thai traditional medicine, applied Thai traditional medicine, communication technology innovation, radiology technology, medical records, and occupational health and safety. They are being prepared for the primary health care system under the policy “Project planning to produce doctors and health innovation teams for family medicine, responding to the primary health care system throughout Thailand (9 doctors).” This is in line with the Primary Health Care System Act of 2019. Through the mechanism of primary health care provision, primary health care services standards, reducing inequality for primary health care access, with holistic, continuous, and integrated health care, resulting in good health and fewer illnesses, for society and the country’s fairness and health security.
