Job Performance among Medical Record Technicians in Community Hospitals, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand

This study employed a cross-sectional survey design to examine factors associated with the work performance effectiveness of medical record technicians in community hospitals, under the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. The sample consisted of 415 participants. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient.
The findings revealed that 74.2% of the medical record technicians demonstrated a high level of work performance effectiveness (Mean = 3.9, S.D. = 0.5, 95% CI = 3.89–3.99). Factors significantly associated with work performance effectiveness at the 0.05 level included digital skills and organizational support, both of which showed moderate positive correlations. In contrast, age and length of work experience showed low positive correlations, whereas work-related stress showed a low negative correlation. Workload was not significantly associated with work performance effectiveness. In addition, sex, position, salary, and marital status were significantly associated with differences in work performance effectiveness, whereas educational level was not significantly associated with such differences.
Relevant agencies should promote and strengthen the digital skills of medical record technicians, provide appropriate resources and welfare support, and create opportunities for continuous professional development in competencies essential for job performance in order to enhance work performance effectiveness.
