Factors Associated with Acceptance of Telemedicine Use among Patients with Psoriasis at the Institute of Dermatology, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health

Background and Objective: Telemedicine may support continuous follow-up care for patients with psoriasis, but evidence on acceptance among patients with actual service experience in specialized dermatology settings in Thailand is limited. This study examined factors associated with telemedicine acceptance.
Methods: This exploratory cross-sectional study included 60 patients with psoriasis aged ≥18 years who had previously used telemedicine at the Institute of Dermatology. Participants were recruited consecutively. A questionnaire assessed eight technology-acceptance domains. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank correlations; Fisher’s exact test and crude odds ratios were used as supplementary exploratory analyses.
Results: Mean global acceptance was 7.00/10. Acceptance was positively associated with perceived usefulness, ease of use, social influence, facilitating conditions, trust, satisfaction, and continuance intention, and negatively associated with technology anxiety, user resistance, and perceived risk. Associations were strong (|rₛ|=0.749–0.869; p<0.001). Demographic factors were not significantly associated with acceptance.
Conclusion: Telemedicine acceptance was associated with technology-related perceptions and service experience. Findings are exploratory because the study included only 60 prior users from one specialized institute which cannot establish causality. Larger multicenter studies are needed.
