The ability to care for the elderly or the village health volunteers in Nakean sub-district, Muang distrct, Nakhon si thammarat Province

Abstract

                 This research aims to study the knowledge, attitude and ability to care for the elderly of the village health volunteers. And assess the level of satisfaction of elderly care has been taken care of  village health volunteers. Thesamples (97 village health volunteersand 197 elderly) are responsibilities of theMuang-hua-taley health promoting hospital,Muang, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Data were collected using a questionnaire with the confidence coefficients of the questionnaire to assess the level of knowledge, attitude, skill levels and satisfaction of the elderly were 0.894, 0.874, 0.889, and 0.938, respectively, were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The study found that Village health volunteers are knowledge of the high level of care for the elderly (Mean 17.155, S.D. = 3.692), attitude at a high level (Mean = 4.033, S.D. = 0.613), the ability to care for the elderly at a high level (Mean = 3.515, SD. = 1.182) and satisfaction with the care of the elderly volunteers without underlying disease is moderate (Mean. 6.47, S.D. = 1.532) and high level in elderly people with underlying diseases (Mean 7.2, S.D. = 1.247). This study suggests that the health promoting hospital should be trained the village health volunteers to care the elderly that to promote healthy aging with no underlying disease. To strengthen the capacity of village health volunteers in elderly care coverage.
