Factors Affecting Repeated Offending of Jail Inmates in Mae Hong Son Province Prison

Abstract

           The objectives of this research were to study the causes of recidivism of inmates in Mae Hong Son Province prison and to study the relationship of factors affecting recidivism of inmates in Mae Hong Son Province prison. The samples of the research were used the prisoners repeated offenses in Mae Hong Son prison and selected by using a purposive sampling method of 152 people. The questionnaire of a reliability value was 0.887.The data analysis was descriptive statistics, which included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and inferential statistics used in hypothesis testing at the level of significance 0.05, which was the Chi-Square test.

           The results showed that the causes of recidivism of inmates in Mae Hong Son Province prison, it was at a medium level. As well as the particularization in factors, the data found every factor wasat a medium level, especially in the factor of economic, in secondaryfactor was a family factor and social and community factor. The hypothesis testing found the factor of economic, the factor of family, and the factor of social and community affected to the repeated offending of jail inmates in Mae Hong Son province prison with statistical significance at 0.05.
