Finding the Optimal Quantity and Order Point using ABC Segmentation Technique Case Study of Dental clinics

Abstract

           This research topic is Finding the Optimal Quantity and Order Point using ABC Segmentation Technique Case Study of Dental clinics. The objectives are: 1) Study the guidelines and analyze the problems of dental consumables, 2) Find the optimal quantity and reorder point using the ABC clustering technique, a case study of a dental clinic, and    3) Reduce the total cost of dental consumables. In a case study of a dental clinic, the researcher prioritized dental consumables using the value of dental consumable orders of the case study clinic in 2022. Using the ABC clustering technique, a total of 116 dental consumables were divided into 3 groups: Group A, Group B, and Group C, respectively. It was found that there were 26 dental consumables in Group A, with the highest value of 297,642 baht, accounting for 70 percent of the total value of dental consumables in the year, which is the most important group of dental consumables. The researcher therefore analyzed the top 5 dental consumables with the highest value to find the economic order quantity and reorder point, and applied them to the ordering of dental consumables. The total ordering cost was then compared. The research results found that the Economical Order Quantity (EOQ) model can reduce the total cost of inventory management by 5,469.17 baht per year, or 17.23 percent, and reduce the order frequency by 5 times per year, or 45.45 percent.
