A Study of Cultural Tourism Potentials of Chang Community, Khlong Phlu Subdistrict, Khao Khitchakut District, Chanthaburi Province

The qualitative research aimed to study tourism resources of Chong community and to examine cultural potentials of Chong community. To collect the data, the research tools included 1) in-depth interview of 15 representatives from government organizations and community of Chong, 2) participant observation, and 3) area survey. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. It was found that there are a variety of traditional cultures of Chong such as the way of life, language, local herbs, costumes, wedding and divorce ceremonies, custom of pregnancy and childbirth, ghost worship ritual, and funeral ceremony. In addition, Chong community has six tourism potentials, namely 1) tourist attraction, 2) tourist activities, 3) tourist amenities, 4) accommodation, 5) area accessibility, and 6) community participation. These potentials are of important for the Chong community to offer cultural tourism and to preserve its valuable cultures.
