Abstract

The purpose of this research were : 1) to study the factors affecting the students’ Thai achievement, 2) to investigate the factors on student level which affecting Thai achievement of the students, 3) to find out the factors on classroom level which affecting the students’ Thai achievement, 4) to identify the factors on school level affected the students’ Thai achievement, and 5) to construct a multilevel model on student, classroom and school levels affected the students’ Thai achievement. The research sample was divided into 2 groups. For qualitative research, the sample consisted of two schools and each school consisted of 1 school administrator, 1 Prathomsuksa 6 teacher of Thai and 8 students who have high in Ordinary National Educational Testing in Thai. For quantity research, the sample consisted of 80 school administrators, 160 Prathomsuksa 6 teachers of Thai and 3,141 students from 80 schools under the Office of Basic Education Commission. The research instruments were a structured interview for qualitative research whilst the Thai achievement test and 3 sets of rating scale questionnaires were applied for quantitative research. The statistics employed for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, chi-square, Pearson’s  product moment correlation coefficient and HLM 6.04 program.   The findings revealed as follows:

  1. Targetschoolswithhigh Ordinary National Educational Testing in Thai strand found thatallof thevariablesdefinedin the research frameworkof thestudyare variables thatinfluenceon the students Thai achievement. The conceptual of research framework and theactualsituation was consented.
  2. The students mean score of Thai achievement was 14.66, 48.87 percent from full scores.
  3. The factors on the student level affected the students Thai achievement with the statistical significance at .01 level were the attitude towards learning, motivation to learn and learning behavior.
  4. The classroom level, the factors affected the students Thai achievement with the statistical significance at .01 level were quality of teaching and classroom atmosphere.
  5. The factors at the school level were found that the academic leadership and attitude towards the administration affected the students Thai achievement with the statistical significance at .01 level.
  6. The multilevel model of factors at the student, classroom and school levels affected the students Thai achievement are shon in this equation :

                Level 1 : Student level  ACH  =   14.492** + 1.104** (ATT) + 1.631** (MOT)  + 2.739** (BEH).

                Level 2 : Classroom level  ACHCR  =   14.447** + 1.904** (TEACH)  + 1.261** (CLIM).

                Level 3 : School level  ACHS  =    14.497** + 2.954** (LEADER) + 1.595* (ATTITUDE).
