Guidelines for Promoting the Role of Households by Solid Waste Management by Erawan Municipality, Erawan District, Loei Province

Abstract

             The purposes of this research were 1) to study the roles and needs of households for promoting the fully integrated solid waste management and 2) to study the guidelines for promoting the roles of households fully integrated solid waste management in Erawan Sub-district Municipality, Erawan District, Loei Province. The sample consisted of 350 people and the target group used in the research were 1 Municipality administrator,16 village headmen, and 16 representatives or heads of household, totaling 33 people. The findings could be summarized as follows: in terms of the roles and needs of households for promoting the fully integrated solid waste management, overall role of households in fully integrated solid waste management was at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.77, S.D. =0.94). Overall need of households for Municipality’s promotion of the roles of household in the control of waste dumping was at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.68, S.D. = 0.97).  An aspect with the highest need was the need for controlling disposal of dangerous waste (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.93, S.D. = 0.84), followed by the separation of recyclable waste (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.75, S.D. = 0.98). The guidelines for promoting the roles of household in solid waste management included knowledge and understanding about waste types should be promoted in terms of ability to process them and add value. Waste-processing group activities should be promoted for the benefits. Waste transport and disposal data should be provided while days of waste collection by the Municipality should be added.
