An Efficiency Improvement for Spare Part Warehouse Management: Case study of XYZ Company

The purposes of this research were to study the application of ABC analysis technique and visual control technique in spare parts warehouse and to improve spare parts retrait time. According to the analysis, it found that the spare parts in the warehouse of the XYZ company were mixed up combination of spare parts and had no fixed position which be the cause of retrait time consuming and operating delay. In addition, the warehouse had no indication of storage location and clearly label. Therefore, the theories of ABC analysis and visual control were used in this study to improve and modify the arrangement of spare part in order to decrease the spare parts retrait time. Finally, the spare part retrait time was reduced to an average of 7.38 minutes per time, from 18.55 minutes per time to 11.17 minutes per time, or 39.78%.
