An AdaptationOf Brain-based Learning Management Approach: A Case Study Of Bann Nonko School, Khon Kaen Province.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to 1) study an adaptation of Brain - based Learning 1.1) study the
effectiveness of Brain - based Learning 1.2) study the factors that affect to the success of Brain - based
Learning 2) study the Brain - based Learning that affects to the teaching behavior of teachers and 3) study
the Brain - based Learning that affects to the learning behavior of students. For this research, it is done by
the qualitative research in form of case study that data is collected by mixed methods. However, the target
group is contained by 1 school’s director, 7 teachers who teach about Thai language for the students in
primary school and 19 students in grade 1 of semester 2/2015. In part of the research procedure, it contains
3 steps: step 1 studying the context of research procedure, step 2 studying and collecting the data to adapt
the Brain - based Learning innovation to the system of school and step 3 studying and collecting the data to
use the Brain - based Learning innovation in the learning procedure of Thai classroom. For the tools of this
research, they are 1) voice recorder 2) video recorder 3) interview forms 4) observation forms 5) attitude test
and 6) document gathering. In part of quantitative analysis, it uses the descriptive statistics by protocol
analysis and descriptive analysis to present the result in the format of description.
The research’s results are found 1) Bann Nonko School, Khon Kaen province designs the managerial
innovation as “NONKO MODEL” that the principles and important concepts are the participation of all units,
so the Brain - based Learning innovation are adapted to be appropriate with the school’s contexts that are
comprised by 5 keys: key 1 - playground, key 2 - classroom, key 3 - teaching and learning (BBL), key 4 - book
& worksheet and key 5 - resources and innovation in order to turn up the school 1.1) the effects are the
changed environment that makes school be livable, the linkage between innovation and curriculum, management
being the leader to act, more sources of searching that are social network online, the teachers and staffs
in school also have more teaching techniques, more various learning procedure, more systematic management,
including to have more community’s participation to develop the school and more educational networks
1.2) factors affecting to the success are “NONKO MODEL” managerial innovation, the support from school’s
management, the support from community, the awareness of teacher’s changes and confidence that the
Brain - based Learning is the way to develop the school and classroom 2) teachers change the teaching
behaviors from director to students’ motivator only, design the learning activities to conform to the learning
standard and indicator of Thai language as the course defined, arrange 5 steps of learning procedure: step
1 warm up, step 2 present, step 3 learn practice, step 4 summary and step 5 apply that they have to select


the various media, measure and evaluate the learning results variously, select Thai books as the Brain - based
Learning and 3) students have the good learning behaviors for all knowledge, process and attitude that the
excellent attitude is gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.82 and S.D. = 0.86.
