A Study of the Transformational Leadership of the School Administrators Under Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization

Abstract

The purposes of the study of transformational leadership of the school administrators under Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization were to : 1) investigate the level of transformational leadership of the school administrators under Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization ; 2) compare the administrators and teacher’s opinions towards the  transformational leadership of the school administrators under Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization and their opinions classified by different professional positions and school sizes. The components of transformational leadership of the administrators are Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, Intellectual Stimulation, and Individualized Consideration/Attention. The samples of this study were 46 administrators and 102 teachers, under Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization in the 2014 academic year. The research instrument used for data collection was the Likert-type-five rating scale-questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was 0.816. The statistic used for data analysis were percentage, Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, and f-test. The results revealed that.

1. The overall and each type of the components of the transformational leadership of the school administrators under Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization were at the high level. The Arithmetic mean of each component was also at the high level respectively-Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, Individualized Consideration/Attention, and Intellectual Stimulation.
2. In comparison the opinion of the administrators with the teacher’s opinion concerning the transformational leadership of the school administrators and teachers, the overall findings were not significantly different. However, the component of Individualized Consideration/Attention was significantly different at the 00.05 level. Additionally, in comparison the opinions of the administrators with the teacher’s opinions concerning the transformational leadership classified by the school sizes-large, medium and small, it was found that they were significantly different at the 00.05 level.

           It is expected that the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization, should support, promote and have a developmental scheme to develop the school administrators to be well-equipped with transformational leadership in order to prepare themselves for the future changes in educational administration.
