บทคัดย่อ

This research aims to study changes of Tai Yuan ethnic group in Ratchaburi. Research framework therefore focuses on studying the changes of the Tai-Yuan group in the area, with "Ethnic identity” conceptual framework. The research found that coexistence of different ethnic groups has cultural transmission. Consequently, cultural pluralism presents acceptance between people. Setting up houses and planning had been gradually blended and adopted to main local tradition, cultureand original style of the area. This stage can be explained in 2 levels, namely, community level and residential level.

Community level- Khu Bua community is a collective cultural group with a mix of beliefs at residential level and community level. To begin with Buddha altars are as a center of inhabitants’ minds. Furthermore, Buddha image is significant spiritual value of city in community level.

Residential level - The identity of Tai-Yuan Ku Bua vernacular houses, layout and style are explained by creating important spatial symbols of the house through "bedroom", also known as "Nai Huen". Although houses adopt central region style as to create identity, their orientation are different from the originality. Finally, there is an adaptation towards local culture. Proportion of houses is similar to central region vernacular style in smaller scale
