Burnout syndrome among personnel working for the Office of the Basic Education Commission

The aims of this research were: 1. examine the working environment andthe burnout syndrome of personnel in the Office of the Basic Education Commission, 2. compare the level of burnout syndrome classified by personal factors, and 3. determine the relationship between the working environment and burnout syndrome of personnel in the Office of the Basic Education Commission. This research is quantitative research. The sample consisted of 299 personnel in the central branch of the Office of the Basic Education Commission. Simple random sampling was done and data was collected using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the package program. The statistics used in the research were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one way ANOVA, and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results of this research are as follows. Firstly, the personnel were at a moderate level of burnout syndrome (mean = 2.35). Secondly, there were differences in education levels, status, work experiences, and the average monthly incomes. There is no difference in burnout syndrome. However, the age-personal factors of different ages had different burnout syndrome in terms of depersonalization (Sig. = .02). Thirdly, work environment had a negative correlation with high levels of burnout syndrome (r = -.63). The results of this research can be utilized as a guideline for human resource management to solve the problem of burnout syndrome in the work of the personnel in the Office of the Basic Education Commission.
