Abstract

The purpose of this research is to enhance the organizing and communicating data skills of Mathayomsuksa 3 students by using inquiry-based learning 5E combined with the organizing and communicating data skills training packages on concept of stars in the sky in order to pass the criterion of 70 percent of full scores. The sample consisted of 20 Mathayomsuksa 3 students from the Mahasarakham University Demonstration School (Secondary), Mahasarakham who were selected by purposive sampling. The research methodology was action research consisting of 2 cycles. The research tools used were: 1. 8 lesson plans, 2. the organizing and communicating data skills training packages, 3. the organizing and communicating data skills test, 4. the organizing and communicating data skills observation form, and 5. semi-structured interviews. The statistics used in data analysis were mean and percentage. The results of the research were that in the first cycle, using inquiry-based learning 5E combined with the organizing and communicating data skills training packages, there were 2 students who passed the criterion with 70% of full scores (10.00%). In the second cycle, the questions in training packages were adapted to match the nature of the data for organizing and communicating data skills and an example of a model in organizing data was added. More emphasis was also placed on activities in which all students were involved in practice. As a result, there were 5 students who passed the criterion with 70% of full scores (25.00%).
