Abstract

Designed lamp project which our raw material was the Vetiver grass to invent the creative handicraft. The objective of this project 1. To design the lamp by using the raw material from the local vetiver grass to develop and to lead the new innovation from the grass. 2. Using local materials “the vetiver grass" is to promote a product and show how to make the grass more valuable. 3. Supporting and being the learning processes to increase the value community and institute database those who want to develop the product. 4. To enhance and improve the creative handicraft from the vetiver grass.

The method for collecting our data is to interview the experts who are skillful of the lamp product and the vetiver grass, the consumer who consume the decoration for accommodation including the retail who all concern about house decoration at Chatuchak Weekend Market in the house decoration zone. We were also studied from the research and via social media both the primary and secondary information. After that we analyzed and compared the information then started to design our product.

The results from our interview and study found that the most suitable material is genuine leather because of high quality and feature by comparison which when we combined the vetivar grass with the leather. We found that it got the better feeling about the textures and color than other material. However, there is the restriction during our processes which is forming.

The summary of this designed lamp project; there are 3 types of creative handicraft from the local vetiver grass which are 1. Wall lamp. 2. Desk lamp and 3.Hanging lamp. The concept of hybrid materials is to create a line of thought processes, which are versatile and unique from the original by using the vertiver grass to be the material. Moreover, it is to support using the local materials as the vetiver grass in Thailand with various technic and improve the product community. The last but not the least, it is also to enhance the well-being of the community to get the better by producing and managing the locally available resources. We think that this is the best way to recognize the valuable environment and use it as beneficial as possible.
