Abstract

This study explored the learning styles of upper secondary school students of the German language. Two schools in southern Thailand were selected for this study, namely Satree Phuket School and Phatthalung School, where German it still taught at the upper secondary level. The sample group for the study was 171 upper secondary students of German in the first semester of academic year 2017. A questionnaire was used to collect the data which were then analyzed for percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings indicated that the sensory style preference and the learning style that involves relations with ideas were relatively common learning styles of students from Satree Phuket School; whereas, the learning style that involves relations with others was the least common. On the other hand, students from Phatthalung School preferred the learning styles that involve relations with ideas and orientation to learning tasks, respectively. The least frequently used learning style of Phatthalung School students was that involving relations with others.
