Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the errors of grammar use in the Chinese language through a complement; 2) to study instructional problems of Chinese language through a complement. The sample group of this research included 169 students- Mattayomsuksa 6 (Grade 12), Semester 1, 2016 Academic Year, from 6 Schools. The samples were selected by purposive sampling, which was the Chinese-arts Language Program. The research instrument was the Chinese language grammar test. The research results revealed that the percentage of errors was equal to 48.07%. The errors could be ordered from most to least as follows: the complement of duration, the complement of frequency, the complement of direction, the complement of potential, the complement of result, the complement of degree, the complement of state. Furthermore, the 2 main causes of errors found were: 1) errors from the interference of mother language (母语负迁移); and 2) errors from the over- generalization (目的语规则的泛化). These 2 main causes could be applied to solve the problems of grammar instruction for lecturers to be more effective and enhance creative ideas, including help reduce or avoid the grammar errors of the learners. Hence, the researcher would like to propose the instructional techniques by using Mind Map together with supplementary instruction methods in other aspects.
