Corporate Social Responsibility Models Affecting The Financial Performance of Commercial Banks in Thailand

Abstract

This research was aimed to 1) study the social responsibility activities, 2) study the corporate social responsibility activities affecting the impact of corporate social responsibility activities, 3) study the corporate social responsibility activities affecting the financial performance, 4) study the impact of corporate social responsibility activities affecting the financial performance, and 5) analyze the casual relationship of independent variables affecting the financial performance.

This research is quantitative the sample group was 330 commercial bank managers in Bangkok by using proportional stratified sampling. Data were analyzed by using multiple regression, path analysis, and causal relationships.

The findings revealed that 1) the social responsibility activities for society was at the highest level, environment, and education, respectively, 2) the social responsibility activities for customer loyalty was affected by the social responsibility activities for human rights, culture, and education at 22%, 3) the financial performance was affected by the corporate social responsibility activities for human rights, culture, and education at 58%, 4) the financial performance was affected by the social responsibility activities for customer loyalty at 30%, 5) the financial performance affected by the direct causal variable of human rights was at the highest level, and customer loyalty, respectively; and the corporate social responsibility for culture was both the highest direct and indirect effect on the financial performance by the customer loyalty.
