Analysis of International Publications Classify by Subject Groups of Mahidol University in the SciVal database from 2018 to 2022

Abstract

         The purpose of this study was to analyze the quality of international publications and research collaborations of Mahidol University in the SciVal database between 2018 to 2022. The samples consist of international publications classified into three subject groups of Mahidol University 1) Health Science 2) Sciences and Technology, and 3) Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. Analyzing the quality of publications in journals. Citations per article, Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) and research collaboration with networks.

         The research revealed that overall, the health sciences group as a whole was the most prominent, with the highest number of publications with 11,132 articles, which are published in journals 1-25 percentile (Top 1–25%), which are the highest quality publications, with 4,945 articles (44.42 percent). The highest number of citations per publication was 9.9. The highest number of research collaborations between international collaboration, national collaboration, and institutional collaboration were 4,833, 2,830, and 3,351 articles, respectively. The highest number of citations per publication in research collaborations with international collaboration and single authorship (no collaboration) were 15.8 and 5.2, respectively. The highest number of publications with academic-corporate collaboration and no academic-corporate collaboration were 305 and 10,827 articles, respectively. The highest number of citations per publication without academic-corporate collaboration was 8.8. In conclusion, this research found that publishing in high quality journals leads to a high number of citations per publication. Additionally, publishing with international collaboration and academic-corporate collaboration increases the likelihood of publications receiving more citations. The research results can be used as guidelines to define policies that support international publications in each field of the university, thereby ensuring the research is internationally accepted and driving the university towards becoming a world-class university.
