Abstract

The objective is to study the problem of word reuse in Chinese. 1) Analyze the problem of word reuse in Chinese and the consequences of incorrect reuse of words in Chinese. 2) Study for solutions to the causes of incorrect reuse of words in Chinese. 3) Develop teaching and learning in line with the routine use of Chinese words by undergraduate students majoring in Chinese from the first to fourth year levels from a sample of 100 students. This research is a qualitative study in which the researcher conducts data analysis by examining tests. The tools used to conduct the research are: 1) Basic questionnaires about learning Chinese 2) Word Repetitive Test in Chinese

The results showed that: 1) the reuse of words in Chinese changes contextually and cannot be isolated from the linguistic environment; and 2) students avoid repetitive words to prevent misunderstandings. In addition, cultural analysis found that the reuse of words in Chinese depends on familiarity and influencing culture. 2) Students often do not repeat words in Chinese correctly due to insecurity in their use. Pedagogical development should focus on understanding the grammatical structure of repeated words and encourage students to apply them in everyday life to increase familiarity. The use of technology in teaching can help to better demonstrate the use of words in Chinese clearly and correctly.
